Beyond Hope and Despair: Navigating ecological tragedy
A collaborative inquiry with Buddhists and Christians.
6th – 8th March 2020
About this event
A weekend event with Gomde UK Tibetan Buddhist Centre in association with Green Christian’s Borrowed Time project.

Now is a time between worlds: one we have known, and another beginning to unfold. On current trends, climate breakdown and mass extinctions could trigger the collapse of our civilisation. Even with resolute action, we stand to lose much that we cherish, in nature, culture and self-understanding.

Our response to today’s ecological emergency will be the making of us, and of all life on Earth. If we have the courage to face our grief and anxiety, we will find that beyond them lie self-transcendence, equanimity, even joy – and the power to act, whatever the future holds. Join us for a journey beyond both hope and despair, where maps have yet to be drawn.

Registration for this event will open in the coming weeks.
Programme
The event will begin with a public talk on the evening of Friday 6th March at a venue in Doncaster, open to the public: Christians, Buddhists, people of other faiths, and people who find no need of faith.

The weekend programme, with residential and non-residential options, is for Christians and Buddhists and those who wish to travel with them. Together we will seek common ground where we can give ourselves faithfully to the radical insecurity of our times.

A detailed programme will be available soon.
Accommodation
We have a variety of on-site accommodation options, all of which include breakfast, lunch and supper. Alternatively, you can attend the course as a day visitor.

Details of accommodations will be available here soon.
