Cook/Chef at Gomde UK
Gomde UK, is a centre for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism and for the development of environmental Buddhism. You don’t need to be a practicing Buddhist to join our thriving community, but you must be committed to making the community a success based on our Buddhist values centred on calmness, kindness, and clarity.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled chef/cook with particular skills in vegetarian cooking. Our cook will be responsible for preparing lunch and dinner for up to 25 people. You will also support the session cooks during large events and work with other staff and volunteers who help in the kitchen. Week-end work is expected as part of this role and weekly hours will be flexible depending on season, demand and availability.

Variable hours between 15–25 hours per week depending on season. Core season March — November. Working hours planned in advance. Contract Temporary Contract for 12 months (with possible extension).

Key Tasks
Key tasks include creating meal plans, working within a budget, responding to differing dietary needs, ordering and managing stock effectively to minimise waste and working with the garden team to utilise all fresh produce. You will keep all relevant paperwork (including cleaning reports, fridge temperatures etc) and be responsible for cleaning the kitchen and equipment up to Health & Safety and food hygiene standards.

The successful candidate will have experience of cooking for larger numbers of people, managing a kitchen effectively and working harmoniously as part of a team.

You must have Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2, and an understanding of COSHH and HACCP systems.

Job Type: Part-time, Temporary
Salary: £9.00 to £9.50 /hour
