Carbon Strategy – The Plan for Net Zero and Beyond

Gomde UK is relatively a small organisation yet with Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche’s help and guidance, we have always looked to the long view, the bigger picture. Since 2010 we have worked steadily on various environmental initiatives, each one contributing to our key strategy regarding purposeful climate action.

We simply seek to do our best, joyfully embracing responsibility and play our part in contributing to a healthy future for current and future generations of humans, all other species and our planet. We are now in the remarkable position to announce plans for the Centre to become net zero by 2022.

Net Zero - The Plan

Our new plan is to increase seven fold our generation of solar energy and to store generated electricity, further reducing our dependency on fossil fuels.

What will it take to achieve net Zero?
* We need new infrastructure – the upgrade of electrical transformer and supply cables.
* The purchase and installation of new PV array, smart meter, battery and heat pumps.

Upgrade Electric Supply: £27,000
40kw Solar Panels Installed: £30,000
13 kw Battery: £8,500
Additional 4 Heat Pumps: £3,500
Total cost: £69,000

A Proven Track Record

From the start we planned for the long term and with the environment in mind. This work includes the protection and development of our peatland carbon store. We have also sought to harvest energy equivalent to our needs from renewable resources and for all new building and renovation work to be highly energy efficient to reduce our heat load.
