Gomde UK

A centre dedicated to Dharma, community & environmental stewardship

Gomde UK’s purpose is to provide a sanctuary where the Buddha’s teachings of kindness and wisdom can be preserved, practised and shared for all those who seek peace, personal growth and connection with the world around them. As a direct reflection of this, we are committed to protecting the rare habitat of the Lindholme estate, the regeneration of the wider peatlands and proactively contributing to alleviate our present-day environmental challenges and living sustainably with the natural world.

All this is made possible through the generous help of our community of volunteers; a shared endeavour of service for the place, one another and all future generations.

Lindholme Hall Estate

Land Steeped in Sacred & Ecological Heritage

Lindholme Hall Estate is a place of rare natural beauty and deep historical significance. A 180 acre island which lies in the centre of Hatfield Moor part of the ancient Humberhead Peatlands. The island, once only accessible by boat, can now be reached across the peatland via a one-mile single track road.
Lindholme has been a site of human presence for over 5,000 years— with Neolithic trackways and possible early Christian monastic roots to a medieval hermitage. Today, it stands as a sanctuary for spiritual practice, ecological restoration, and quiet reflection—honouring its enduring legacy as a refuge for both people and nature.

Lineage

Rooted in Kagyu & Nyingma Tibetan Buddhist Traditions

Gomde UK follows the Kagyu and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. These lineages are deeply rooted in the teachings of Chokgyur Lingpa, a renowned tertön whose terma teachings form a cornerstone of the tradition. This authentic lineage is revered and respected across all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The centre operates under the spiritual guidance of Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, who holds these lineages and is dedicated to preserving and sharing the teachings for the benefit of all. Providing a space for study, meditation, and practice, Gomde UK connects practitioners with these profound Buddhist traditions.
