It is with great joy and anticipation that we welcome Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche to Gomde UK for our annual seminar.

This is a very special opportunity to receive precious teachings at Gomde UK, as Thubten Chökor Ling, “The Island Where the Wheel of Buddha’s Teachings Turns,” continues to unfold here. We very much look forward to welcoming you.

Details of Rinpoche’s teaching topic, any empowerments, and the Ngakso Puja will be shared as soon as they are confirmed.

Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche

Born in Tibet in 1951 as the eldest son of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, one of the greatest Dzogchen masters of modern times, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche is a world-renowned Buddhist teacher and meditation master.

For over four decades, Rinpoche has served as the abbot of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery in Kathmandu, where he oversees the education and welfare of more than 500 monks and 300 nuns. He is the spiritual guide of Gomde centres internationally and has taught all over the world for many decades. He is known for his warm, accessible, and deeply relevant way of presenting the Buddha’s teachings.

Seminar Details

The seminar will begin on the evening of Sunday 21st June with registration and a welcome talk from Khenpo Pema Namgyal.

For those staying on-site, registration will take place between 2.00–4.30 pm on Sunday 21st June. Supper will be served at 5.30 pm.

The seminar will conclude on the afternoon of Friday 26th June. Teachings on the final day will finish by 2.00 pm, so please bear this in mind when arranging your travel.

We will request Rinpoche to lead the Ngakso Puja and will share further details as soon as possible. It will also be possible to attend the puja as a stand-alone day, with this option available when booking.

Booking

This event is offered by donation. The suggested donation helps us cover the costs of hosting the seminar, including teachings, accommodation, meals, and the facilities offered at Gomde UK.

Whether you are new to Buddhism or an experienced practitioner, everyone is warmly welcome to this special week of teachings and practice. If the suggested donation is difficult for you, please contact helen@gomde.uk. If you are able to offer more, this would be a great support and deeply appreciated.

Your place can be confirmed once your deposit has been received. We will do our very best to accommodate all bookings, though places and accommodation options are limited, so we encourage you to book early. If your preferred accommodation is no longer available, we will be in touch to let you know as soon as possible.

The final balance is due by 1st June.

Shared accommodation is single gender, and there is plenty of space for campers.

Meals

For those staying on-site, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. All meals are vegetarian and are prepared by our wonderful chef and kitchen support team, using home-grown produce from our walled vegetable gardens wherever possible.

For day visitors, lunch is included. If you would like to add breakfast or supper to your booking, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.

Dietary Requests

Please include any dietary requirements in the Special Requests and Considerations section of the registration form. Although we will do our best to support people’s needs, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate complex or serious allergies.

Arrival and Departure

Please also let us know on the registration form whether you will arrive in time for supper on 21st June and whether you will stay for lunch on 26th June. If your plans change, do let us know as soon as you can, as this helps us reduce food waste.

Making Offerings for the Teachings

Following teachings, it is traditional to make a personal offering to those who have given the liberating instructions. During this seminar, we will be welcoming Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, Khenpo Pema Namgyal, and Rinpoche’s translator.

Special Requests and Considerations

Please use the registration form to let us know about anything that may help us support your stay, including dietary requirements, physical or mental health considerations including mobility or access needs, or any other personal circumstances relevant to your participation.

Booking Extra Nights

If you would like to request extra nights before or after the seminar, please include this in the Special Requests section. We cannot guarantee that extra nights will be available, but we will do our best to help where possible. Extra nights start from £50 per night, depending on accommodation.

Part Seminar Attendance

If you are unable to attend the full seminar, please contact us before booking. Because the teachings are sequential and cumulative, part bookings are usually only possible from the beginning of the seminar. On-site accommodation for part bookings is unlikely to be available unless you are camping.

Offering Sponsorship and Supporting Gomde

Gomde UK is sustained almost entirely by the generosity of volunteers and all those who support our activities through donations.

If you are able to give more, whether to help sponsor someone who may otherwise find it difficult to attend, or to support the running of Gomde UK, your offering would be a great help and very warmly appreciated.

Cancelling Your Booking

The final balance is due by 1st June.

We very much hope you will be able to join us. If you do need to cancel before 1st June, we can return your donation minus a £50 administration fee. After 1 June, we can return 50% of your donation upon request.
