Within the Chöklings Tersar tradition, the Three Roots are represented by different enlightened deities: Guru (Padmasambhava), Yidam (Vajrakilaya), and Dakini (Kurukulla). This retreat is part of an annual series focusing on the Three Roots practices — Guru, Yidam, and Dakini.
The teachings will be translated by Laura Dainty enabling a full rendition of Lama’s teaching. Laura is a brilliant translator who shares a close connection with our community.
The following description of Kurukulla is adapted from information published by Samye Institute:
“Kurukulla is a powerful semi-wrathful female deity belonging to the Lotus family. She is a feminine embodiment of enlightened wisdom and is a dakini skilled in magnetizing everything required by the practitioner.
Her magnetizing and increasing power attracts wisdom, happiness, health, wealth, and long life. Kurukulla is usually depicted as red in colour, in a dancing posture, holding a flower bow and arrow in one pair of hands and a flower hook and noose in the other.
There are over thirty-seven Kurukulla sādhana liturgies included in the Tengyur, and many more in indigenous Tibetan literature. Kurukulla is also one of the Twenty-One Taras mentioned in the ancient Tara tantras and appears in the Hevajra Tantra, which contains her mantra.”
