Peatland Retreat Wing
Book to Build
Pre-Book a Personal Retreat for Yourself or a Loved One
The Peatland Retreat Wing at Gomde UK is steadily taking shape: ten self-contained studios designed to offer quiet, supportive space for personal retreat. With a suggested donation of £700, you can reserve a 7-day personal retreat in one of our peaceful, purpose-built studios — and be among the very first to experience the space you helped bring to life. The Peatland Retreat Wing is due for completion in 2026. From the moment the rooms are ready, you’ll have two full years to book your personal retreat. Whether you stay for the entire week or just a few days, the time and space are yours to shape. Each room includes: a private bathroom, a small kitchenette, and a simple, beautiful environment for rest, reflection, and deepening practice — all surrounded by the stillness of nature and the wide skies of Lindholme Hall Estate. Built with Purpose and Care
This project is part of a greater vision for Gomde UK as a living Dharma centre — Thubten Chökor Ling.Guided by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche’s aspiration, we are building a place where authentic teachings, a resident monastic community, and ideal retreat conditions come together to support Dharma, community and environmental stewardship.
The Peatland Retreat Wing is designed with future generations in mind — incorporating high-performance insulation, solar energy, and low-carbon heating systems to ensure the building is beautiful, self-sufficient and environmentally responsible.
How much does the project cost?

We’ve already completed planning, groundwork, and the structural frame. We’re now installing the roof, windows and cladding and preparing for the interior fit-out — all on track for completion in 2026.
Total Project Cost: £375,000
Raised So Far: £70,000
Your Contribution: £700 = 7-day personal retreat voucher (valid for 2 years after opening)
The total project cost was estimated, with contractors in mind, at £375,000. So far, we’ve raised £70,000 through the generous support of our community — but the true value of what’s been achieved goes far beyond that number.
In 2024, the Peatland Retreat Wing was reimagined as a community-build in response to the incredible willingness and generosity of our sangha. Skilled volunteers stepped forward to offer their time and labour, allowing each donated pound to go further. We’ve also been gifted a range of in-kind contributions — from furnishings to Dharma items — that enrich the project while reflecting the deep collective care behind it. This spirit of shared effort has enabled us to progress beyond expectations. Now, as we move into the next phase — enclosing and fitting out the retreat — every additional £700 contribution helps carry this shared vision forward.
Our Vision

Our vision is to establish a place of refuge inspiring calm, kindness and clarity; a spiritual home for all. A living monastery that serves and supports a broad community with an extraordinary Buddhist Temple at its heart. Built to stand for centuries, the Peatland Retreat Wing and Buddhist Temple along with its community will be a beacon of peace and hope, nurturing hearts, minds and the land for generations to come.
Join us — Support the final build!

Together, we can create something meaningful and lasting — a gift to the world that reflects the very best of humanity.
By donating any amount, large or small, you will help make this extraordinary vision a reality: a lasting home for the Buddha’s teachings, inspiring calm, kindness, and clarity for generations to come.
